You must learn to compete at your BEST!
International Medical Graduates must overcome 10x higher unmatched rate
With only 4.9% unmatched rate, the 2012 Main Match marked the highest residency match rate for U.S. Medical School Seniors in 30 years. Unfortunately, the outcome was not as favorable for U.S. Citizen Students/Graduates of International Medical Schools (50.9% unmatched), Non-U.S. Citizen Students/Graduates of International Medical Schools (59.4% unmatched), and Students/Graduates of Fifth Pathway Programs (66.7% unmatched). Additionally a byproduct of the most successful Match year is fewer positions available during SOAP*.
